Third Age Barrie hosts six-part series on climate change, racism and inequality

Group asks: Is the pandemic the turning point we need to address climate change, racism and inequality?

The Chinese character for crisis contains both danger and opportunity. At this point in the pandemic, we have seen lots of danger. The pandemic has caused sickness and death, ravaged daily lives and economies all over the world. Racism, inequitable social conditions and climate change are contributing to this disaster, and likely to cause worse.

But the pandemic has brought these issues into sharper relief, and there have been strong voices telling us we can address these issues as part of our recovery from the pandemic. We are at a major turning point.

Third Age Barrie, “the local university for senior citizens,” is presenting a six-part series with inspiring speakers to challenge us with ways we can address climate change, racism and inequality as part of our recovery from the pandemic  a green recovery!

  • The Changing Nature of State Sovereignty After the Pandemic: The Movement of Power in a Globalized World with Dr. Michael Johns, Assoc. Professor of Political Science, Laurentian University.
