MIDHURST – Simcoe County residents are being asked to help shape the future of transportation in our region and beyond.

The Transportation Tomorrow Survey (TTS), in partnership with the County of Simcoe, the Government of Ontario, the Toronto Transit Commission, Metrolinx/GO Transit, and 18 other municipal/local governments in the Greater Toronto Area and Greater Golden Horseshoe Area, looks to assist in the long-term planning of the transportation system in these regions.

Approximately 160,000 households from across Southern Ontario are being randomly selected to complete the survey, and you may receive a letter or phone call asking you to participate.

Taking part in the survey affords you the opportunity to provide valuable information that may be used to shape the transportation landscape in the province.

The survey is confidential, will take approximately 10 minutes of your time, and focuses on where members of the household 11 years of age and older travelled the previous day, how they got to and from their destinations, and a few demographic questions.

“The time you devote to completing the survey is a direct investment in your future,” said Warden Gerry Marshall. “Information shared by residents from all walks of life who use every mode of transportation, including drivers, public transit users, cyclists, and pedestrians, will go a long way to ensuring our region’s transportation infrastructure meets their needs.”

Information gathered from this survey, including core data to support highway improvements, development proposals, improving transit services, and determining the need for GO transit improvements, will be used by planners across the province to better assess and serve the transportation needs and infrastructure requirements.

Results from the survey have been used in transportation planning and investment decisions since the TTS was first conducted in 1986. The survey is repeated every five years.

The County of Simcoe is composed of sixteen member municipalities and provides crucial public services to County residents in addition to providing paramedic and social services to the separated cities of Barrie and Orillia. Visit our website at simcoe.ca
