Teenager accused of going more than twice the speed limit

A 19-year-old Bradford man is charged with speeding and stunt driving following a traffic stop early this morning.

On Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 around 1 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer was on patrol southbound on Yonge Street near Line 11 in Bradford. The officer observed a vehicle approaching from the rear at a high rate of speed. The vehicle entered the northbound lane and passed the cruiser continuing southbound. Radar was activated and registered a speed of 164 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver was placed under arrest for stunt driving and speeding. His licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
