Take it outside: City's outdoor rinks all open for business

All rinks are subject to weather conditions, so check the city's website before you head out

As long as the cold weather holds, the city's Heritage Park Pond, Eastview Park, Lampman Lane Park, Redpath Park and Shear Park outdoor skating rinks are all open.

There are seven outdoor skating rinks maintained by city staff as well as volunteer-maintained outdoor rinks in many parks.

The rinks are located at: 

- Circle at the Centre, located at Barrie City Hall at 70 Collier St., is for pleasure skating only. Hockey is not permitted. Site includes parking and heated change rooms.

- Centennial Park Community Ice Rink, located at 95 Lakeshore Dr., is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Ice rink is for pleasure skating and hockey on alternating schedules, with washrooms located close to the rink. Site offers parking. User schedule includes pleasure skating from 10 a.m. to noon, 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., with shinny hockey from noon to 2 p.m., 4-6 p.m., and 8-10 p.m.  

- Heritage Park Pond, located at 5 Simcoe St., is for pleasure skating only and hockey is not permitted. Hours are dependent on weather conditions and are subject to change. Site offers parking and seating with a wood-burning fire on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

- Eastview Park, 455 Grove St. E.

- Lampman Lane Park, 59 Lampman Lane

- Redpat​h Park, 70 Carleton Rd.

- Shear Park, 21 Holgate St.
