The R.A.C.E. (Respect, Action, Courage, and Excellence) Against Drugs is a community-based drug and alcohol awareness program offered to Grade 5 students across Simcoe County.

The primary objective of this drug education program is to utilize the sport of car racing to capture the attention of young people and communicate with them.

As they move and interact through each pit stop, they will learn key messages about the importance of a drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle.

This year, more than 500 Grade 5 students from twelve Simcoe County District School Board schools will attend the event at the Barrie YMCA (22 Grove Street West) from May 4 to 6 for a half-day program.

Each pit stop will offer an interactive activity and will highlight some aspect of drug awareness for students, as well as stressing the importance of making informed, healthy choices.
