The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is proud to offer students a chance to see the world and experience different cultures, all while earning course credits towards their high school diploma.

In partnership with EduTravel, SCDSB students can take courses such as:

  • Fashion or International Business in New York City
  • Environmental Science in the Dominican Republic
  • English in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC
  • Civics and Careers in Ottawa, Montreal and New York City

All classes offer students a hands-on and interactive experience, while gaining insight into a different country and culture.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for high school students,” said Amanda Hickling, EduTravel Coordinator. “When students are able to see and engage with what they are studying, it enhances their learning experience.”

One of the most popular programs is the Biology in Fiji course for Grade 11 and 12 students, which takes place in the summer months.

For approximately three weeks, students are introduced to the world of Marine Biology by studying coral reefs, beaches and the ocean surrounding Fiji.

Students are able to assist in academic research, participate in snorkeling tours and study coral replantation projects.
