Storm results in multiple power outages (9:30 update: more areas affected)

9:30 p.m. update

Springwater Fire and Emergency Services is reporting power interruptions across Simcoe County.

InnPower is currently evaluating ice-related outages in Innisfil affecting approximately 4,000 customers.

From PowerStream Inc.: "We are getting several reports of limbs falling and lines arcing in Barrie. Stay clear of fallen wires and also be mindful of falling limbs."

PowerStream Inc. is reporting a number of weather-related power outages in the Barrie area.

An estimated 14,000 customers in Barrie, Alliston and Beeton have been impacted by the outages.

Downed power lines and tree limb contact are to blame for the outages.

Multiple repair crews have been dispatched.

Barrie Police Service reports that Cundles Road and Anne Street will be closed for several hours due to downed power lines.

Barrie Fire and Emergency Service has responded to a call regarding a lightning strike to a hydro pole on Innisfil Street in Barrie.

Fire crews recommend that motorists avoid the area as power lines are down and may be dangerous.
