Update - Wednesday, November 4, 2015

On Tuesday, November 3, 2015 police arrested a 23-year-old Barrie male for theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.

Police retrieved the stolen cell phone, unfortunately all sentimental photos and essential information had been erased from the device.

The male was released on an appearance notice and will appear in a Barrie Court in December.

We would like to thank the public for their assistance and the numerous tips received.

The Barrie Police Service is seeking witnesses to assist with identifying a male suspect following a theft at the LCBO, located at 37 Caplan Ave, City of Barrie.

On Friday, October 30, 2015, at 4:44 p.m. video surveillance captures a male suspect inside the LCBO and upon leaving he’s observed stealing a cell phone.

The suspect paid for his purchase, although upon leaving he retrieves a cell phone that had been accidentally left behind on the counter by another customer. The suspect exited the store and never made any attempt while outside to locate the owner.

The investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as:

Male, white
20-30 years
Dark hair – long at the front
Medium build
Wearing a dark Under Armour hoodie
