A man has been taken to hospital with superficial stab wounds following an altercation in Berczy Park.

Barrie Police say the victims walked to Youth Haven on Wellington Street East where officers were called around 4:30 p.m.

"There was an altercation with a group of people in Berczy Park. We're still trying to determine how many but I think it was more than two people.  During that altercation one of the victims received superficial slashes to his stomach area," said Barrie Police Const. Nicole Rodgers.

The man was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre where he was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Rodgers.

"The suspects were known to the victims and we do have two persons of interest," said Rodgers. "They're looking for the two males right now and the situation is fluid."

The downtown library is another location that may be connected to the chain of events.

There were officers at the library, the park and the canine unit was involved in the investigation, Rodgers said.

Youth Haven is Simcoe County's only shelter that provides a safe place to stay for young people aged 16 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness.
