Springwater Township council has had a closer look at the draft budget for 2021 and it contains a proposed 1.8 per cent increase on property taxes for the municipality's portion.

When combined with the County of Simcoe and education rates – which are expected to remain neutral, according to township officials – the blended tax increase is estimated at 0.87 per cent.

There are 12 program changes being proposed, which would have an additional net tax levy impact of almost $474,000 — or 3.03 per cent.

The township's budget will be deliberated at special meetings scheduled for Nov. 23, 25 and 30, as well as Dec. 7 and 9.

It is anticipated that the final budget will be approved at the Dec. 16 council meeting.

The meetings will be live streamed online at www.springwater.ca/live.
