The City of Barrie is launching a series of drop-in sessions, taking place at various home renovation stores in the community. At each session, the Reno Blitz team will have stations set up to help walk home owners through the permitting process for a common renovation (e.g. decks, sheds, pools, and second suites).

“Our team is ready help make your renovation project safe and easy so you can build with confidence and enjoy the finished project sooner,” says Andrea Bourrie, Director of Planning and Building Services. “Using our new online permits application, the process is quick and simple, and can be done from the comfort of your own home.”

The sessions will educate the public on the entire renovation process while showcasing how easy it is to complete the permitting portion online.

For the first time ever, all 22 building permit applications are now available for the public to access at through APLI (Applications, Permits, Licenses and Inspections). This is one of the many process improvements the City has made to streamline the customer experience.

APLI is the City’s online application tool for Barrie’s permit, license and inspection requests. This portal provides 24/7 access to apply and pay for building permits, schedule inspections and track application status from the comfort of your home.
