'Small-town vibe': Popular Lefroy restaurant set to reopen

'We feel lucky to call Innisfil our home where we can enjoy the benefits of a waterfront community while surrounded by friendly neighbours.,' says new owner

With more than a decade of memories in Lefroy, the Harbour House Grill will be reopening for take-out and delivery on April 5, followed by in-person dining on May 3.

Ashley Mountford, who has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, says she's thrilled to reopen the Harbour House Grill, located at at 727 Harbour St., following renovations as a first-time owner.

“I want to thank Jen and Tom, the previous owners of Harbour House Grill, for their dedication to connecting the community and providing entertainment that was loved and enjoyed by many," Mountford said. "I am honoured to build upon their legacy and am excited to continue providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere that has become synonymous with Harbour House Grill."

In addition to the freshly renovated, accessible space with an updated take-out window, she says hungry patrons will appreciate the Harbour House Grill’s commitment to quality.

Mountford says she added a greenhouse where they are "aeroponically growing much of the produce you will find on our brand-new menu.”

All of the herbs and leafy greens — such as spinach, romaine, kale, arugula, and micro greens — that will be served at the Harbour House Grill will be grown in the greenhouse that houses tower gardens. With 20 mature plants per tower, aeroponic plants are grown without soil; the plants are instead fed a nutrient-rich mist.

Committed to sourcing all meat and other vegetables like tomatoes, peppers and zucchini from local farms, Mountford says she and her staff will cut their carbon footprint while using the freshest ingredients and maintaining nutrients.

The Harbour House Grill will also reopen with a longer wine list than before, which will feature vintage and consignment wines and boast eight draughts on tap.

And as the weather warms up, Mountford says she also looks forward to offering live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

As local residents since 2021, Mountford says they chose Innisfil as their home because it offers a "welcoming community feel and a great location by the water for our family.

"The small-town vibe and friendly people also drew us in as we were looking for a safe and supportive environment to raise our family in," she added. "We feel lucky to call Innisfil our home where we can enjoy the benefits of a waterfront community while surrounded by friendly neighbours.”

With gluten-free and vegetarian options and a menu that will change seasonally, Mountford invites readers to make reservations for Harbour House Grill’s special Easter brunch, which will be available for two seatings on April 9 at 9 a.m. and noon by emailing [email protected].
