Another car window has been smashed in Innisfil.
A Sandy Cove Acres resident reports that sometime overnight Tuesday between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., the rear window of his van was smashed while parked in his Hickory Court driveway.
It's the latest in a string of vehicle vandalism that started over a week ago.
"We probably had five last weekend and then five this weekend past, so we've had quite a number," said South Simcoe Police Const. Rich Williamson. "It's mostly weekends right now so this is during the week."
The car window smashing has occurred mostly in Innisfil - Alcona and Sandy Cove - but there have been some incidents in Belle Ewart.
"They cover a large area so we doubt it's somebody on foot. We think they're mobile," Williamson said.
Police suspect not all of the window smashing incidents have been reported to them.
Williams says it's possible the culprit is using a sling shot or pellet gun.
"We've had some evidence that it starts as a small hole but most of the back window is gone so we're not really sure what it is they're using," he said.
Investigators are urging residents to check their security video for any suspicious vehicles.
It's difficult to pinpoint exact times because the incidents have been happening overnight during an eight to ten hour span.
"We've got officers patrolling and we're hoping to get more eyes on the street and hopefully we can get somebody to call in when they see a suspicious vehicle in their neighbourhood," said Williamson.
There have been some thefts from the vehicles but the motive is not completely clear.
"We're hoping to get a tip that leads us to our culprit," said Williamson.
Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call South Simcoe Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
