Family Day is just around the corner and there's plenty to do around the city.

For the fifth annual event, on Feb. 18, there will be events and activities happening at the Barrie Community Sports Complex in Midhurst as well as at the city's recreation facilities.

At the sports complex, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., there will be skating on an outdoor rink, broomball, a challenge course, tobogganing (bring your own, though), horse and sleigh rides, self-guided trail walking, snowshoeing (equipment provided for free by Mountain Equipment Co-op), and fat-tire bike riding (provided by The Crank and Sprocket Bicycle Co.).

To keep warm at the sports complex, participants can gather around the bonfire.
