School bus strikes hydro pole

TAY TOWNSHIP – On Tuesday April 26, 2016 at 9 a.m. members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Tay Fire, Hydro one and Simcoe County paramedics responded to the scene of a school bus that had struck a hydro pole.

The school bus from Sharp bus lines was traveling northbound on Sandhill Road in Tay Township when it left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.

Along with the bus driver, 10 students were on board the bus at the time of the collision.

Emergency personnel made the area safe for the children and bus driver to exit the bus to another waiting school bus.

There were no injuries to any of the occupants on the school bus. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Sandhill road will be closed for most of the day from Highway 12 to Fesserton Side road so emergency crews can safely remove the school bus.
