INNISFIL - On Saturday September 10, 2016 shortly before 8 a.m., Marine officers were called to the waters off of the 2nd Line of Innisfil for a sailboat that was partially submerged under the water.

Officers from South Simcoe Police and York Regional Police attended the area and determined that the vessel, which had been anchored, had taken on enough water to cause it to submerge.

It is believed that the sail boat ran aground in the shallow water ( 5 - 6 feet)

No one was found to be on the vessel at the time it took on water. Police are attempting to contact the vessel owner at this time.

The Coast Guard has been contacted and warnings to boat traffic in the area are now being broadcasted on marine radio. The vessel will be removed on order from the Coast Guard.

All boaters are reminded to use caution in this area and be aware of the vessel.
