Saari giving it another shot in Ward 3

Saari ran against Doug Shipley in the 2018 municipal election, finishing second
BarrieToday reached out to the eight candidates in the Ward 3 byelection and asked them why they thought they were best-suited to fill the vacant seat on city council. Six of the eight candidates responded. We are publishing their responses in their own words. Voting in the byelection ends Feb. 24. For more information on how to vote, click here

Since I moved to Barrie 15 years ago, I have been an active contributor to our community. I’ve hosted fundraisers for many organizations including Gilda’s Club, Senior’s Wish, and Christmas Cheer.

This year’s campaign will be my second time running for the Ward 3 councillor’s position. Being a part of city council means that I get to put my expertise to use by aiding our council in making important decisions for ensuring a brighter future for Barrie, which is why I’m running this year.

With over a decade of experience, I believe my work ethic and effective decision-making skills will help our community prosper. If I had to pick my two biggest assets, I would say my strong work ethic and communication skills. I believe a good city councillor always listens to complaints of the residents, discusses them with staff members, and collaborates to find the most elegant solution to the problem at hand.
