On Thursday, May 18, 2017, the Barrie Police Service will be hosting the 4th Annual Home Safe 5KM Run/Walk to benefit the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County and Autism Ontario - Simcoe County.

The Home Safe 5KM Run/Walk is an event for families and participants of all ages. The event has enticed additional participants every year, and with the assistance of our esteemed sponsors we have raised over $5,000.00 for our charities of choice.

The event continues to bring further awareness to our Vulnerable Person Registry, which now boasts over 45 registrants.

The Vulnerable Person Registry (VPR) is a program in Barrie that allows caregivers of vulnerable persons to submit vital information to a database that is used by police and other emergency services during a crisis situation.

Examples of Vulnerable Persons may include persons with; Alzheimer's Disease, Autism Spectrum Disorder, an Acquired Brain Injury or a Mental Health condition. For more information on this program click here.

The Barrie Police Service is honored to have KC Colby from CTV Barrie joining the event as the Master of Ceremonies. We are also pleased to have for a third year; the staff from Barrie Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation will be on-site to kick off this event with a dynamic warm-up! Kool FM and Rock 95 will also be on location.

The event will take place at Heritage Park, on Lakeshore, commencing at 6:15 p.m. All participants will follow a marked 5km route around Kempenfelt Bay, beginning and ending at Heritage Park.

All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to take part. Whether participants walk, run or ride their bikes when they cross that finish line a medal of participation will be awarded to everyone!
