EPILEPSY SIMCOE COUNTY

Epilepsy Simcoe County is pleased to announce a fundraiser of a more delicious kind taking place at Boston Pizza in the south end on Monday, March 4.
This family-friendly community event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will be in support of continuing the conversation about epilepsy awareness. Raising the Dough is to kick-off the upcoming Purple Day on Tuesday, March 26.
Epilepsy Simcoe County’s Executive Director Shawna Bailey says that there’s a stigma around seizures, epilepsy, and what it means for the individual. With an amazing Board of Directors along side her, the idea of Raising the Dough as a fundraiser was born.
“So many important conversations happen around the dinner table, and so we knew that having a fundraiser at Boston Pizza was the perfect way to keep the conversation around epilepsy awareness going.”
Celebrity hosts for the evening will include MP Alex Nuttall, The Rock 95 Morning Crew (Craig & Cat), Kool Mornings Host’s Dale & Charlie, Rock 95 Announcer Jocelyn Martin, and the 2018 Recipient of the Hospitality & Tourism Business Excellence Award (Brittany Gallagher from Splash on Water Parks).
Money raised will continue to help individuals - and their families - living with epilepsy get the support they need through educational programs, information sessions, and support groups. It will also help Epilepsy Simcoe County further the development and implementation of information sessions and first-aid seizure training for schools, community agencies, and workplaces.
In addition to 10 per cent of food sales being donated, there will also be a 50/50 draw and some amazing silent auction items (Connect Hair Studio has graciously donated a gift basket worth $100).

Epilepsy Simcoe County (ESC) was established in 1978 as a volunteer organization to assist the people of Simcoe County with education, support, awareness and advocacy.
They are located in downtown Barrie and serve their member base in the Greater Simcoe County area. ESC provides people living with epilepsy education, understanding and support to get help they may need in a caring and understanding environment.
Epilepsy is a common disorder with over 300,000 Canadians affected and over 50 million people world wide. It is estimated 1 in 100 people in Simcoe County live with this disorder.
