Pulled over in a parking lot, man has vehicle impounded

Police say the driver had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his body. Charges were laid

TOWN OF PENETANGUISHENE – On March 6, 2016 at 4:20 p.m. officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to call of an impaired driver on Poyntz Street in Penetanguishene, ON.

The motor vehicle was stopped by police at 4:22 p.m. in the Village Square Mall parking lot in Penetanguishene.

The male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested by police.

He was transported to Midland Police service for further tests and was found to have over three times the legal limit of alcohol in his body.

The driver identified as Paul Charles Henderson (age 62) of Penetanguishene, ON is now facing the following charges:

  • Care or Control of a motor vehicle while ability impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

  • Care or Control of a motor vehicle while blood alcohol content exceeded 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

He was also served a 90 day Automatic Driver’s Licence Suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 17, 2016 in Midland, ON.
