NEWS RELEASE
SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
*************************
In September, the Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario (COEO) honoured two Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) educators with awards.

The COEO awards are presented annually to members of Ontario’s outdoor education community for outstanding professional contributions to outdoor learning and experiential education. The awards were presented at the COEO’s 50th anniversary/annual fall conference to Bonnie Anderson and Minka Chambers.

Bonnie Anderson, SCDSB outdoor environmental education and healthy active living co-ordinator, received the COEO Honorary Life Membership Award. This award recognizes the substantial and lasting contributions of longtime and esteemed members of COEO. In addition, recipients of this award have 10 or more years of distinguished service in the field of outdoor education, including holding leadership positions within COEO.

Minka Chambers, teacher at Innisdale Secondary School, received the COEO President’s Award. This award is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of COEO and to outdoor education in Ontario. This award identifies an active outdoor educator who has volunteered their time to COEO through their participation on the board of directors, editorial support of pathways, conference organization or other similar contribution.
