Prohibited turn leads to impaired charge

On Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, just before 3 a.m. police arrested a 25-year-old Barrie woman for impaired driving and over 80.

The vehicle had been observed by police weaving in its own lane while travelling on Dunlop Street East, in the City of Barrie. The vehicle continued to the intersection of Dunlop Street and five points; were it was observed making a prohibited right-hand turn on a red light.

Police stopped the vehicle on Clapperton Street and the driver was given a roadside test.

The 25-year-old woman registered a fail and was arrested for over 80 and impaired. She was transported to the Barrie Police Station and further breath samples were provided.

The woman was later released on a promise to appear and will appear in a Barrie court at the end of September. She currently faces an automatic 90-day licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.
