Potato truck and car stolen, man charged

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ESSA TOWNSHIP – On April 27, 2016, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to two occurrences involving the theft of motor vehicles and one attempt theft of a motor vehicle overnight in Alliston and Thornton.

The Nottawasaga OPP viewed surveillance footage from two locations in Alliston confirming the same suspect attended both addresses.

The suspect was unsuccessful stealing the first truck; however did sufficient damage to the window and interior before moving on to the second location.

The suspect was successful in stealing a potato truck and ditched the truck in Thornton then stole a 2009 Brown Nissan Sentra.

With further investigation from the Nottawasaga Street Crime, the Nissan was located and a male was arrested.

A 27-year-old male, Gregory Quehe of New Tecumseth has been charged with the following;

  • Attempt theft of a motor vehicle
  • Theft of a motor vehicle x 2
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Quehe is being held for a bail hearing today in The Ontario Court of Justice, Barrie.
