The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) invites applications for the Tutors in the Classroom program.

This program allows students who are currently enrolled in Ontario colleges and universities to work in Simcoe County public elementary schools as tutors with a focus on literacy and numeracy.

Applicants must be returning to full- or part-time post-secondary studies in the fall.

Interviews and information training sessions for potential tutors will be conducted at the SCDSB Education Centre (1170 Hwy. 26 in Midhurst) on February 16, 18 and 23 from 4 to 7 p.m.

This process includes professional learning for candidates in the following areas: literacy, numeracy and assistive technology.

Students interested in becoming a tutor must pre-register for one of the evening sessions listed above by emailing Pauline Cook at [email protected].

A limited number of spaces are available.

Principals will select tutors from those who have successfully completed recruitment criteria.

Tutors work up to a maximum of 100 paid hours by June 15, 2016.

Schedules will be determined in consultation with SCDSB principals.
