Once again, the City has transformed a Barrie Transit bus into a spooky place for families to explore this Halloween season. The Ghost Bus is decorated and is back for its 5th year, bringing free Halloween fun to the City’s three main community centres next week.
“Our Transit and Recreation departments have a lot of fun decorating the bus for this event,” said Alex Malmsten, Recreation Supervisor at the City. “The event gets more popular each year, which motivates us to think of new spooky elements to add that will keep the thrill alive.”
Approximately 7,000 people attended the Ghost Bus Tour last year. Here are the dates and locations of this year’s tour:
- Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at East Bayfield Community Centre, 80 Livingstone St. E
- Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Allandale Recreation Centre, 190 Bayview Drive
- Thursday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Holly Community Centre, 171 Mapleton Ave.
In addition to the Ghost Bus, a variety of Halloween-themed activities will be offered for kids of all ages. The bus will remain stationary all night so participants are invited to drop in anytime during the free event. Costumes are encouraged.
Parents are reminded to use their discretion when deciding whether or not to enter the Ghost Bus with their children. The bus is on the softer side of a typical haunted house, but may be too spooky for some participants.
