R.I.D.E. checks in Bradford

On Saturday December 12, 2015 South Simcoe Police RIDE teams set up vehicle checks in various locations in Bradford.

Officers checked 1,041 vehicles and performed 61 road side tests on drivers who were suspected of drinking.

Three drivers were in the WARN range and were issued three-day license suspensions and had their vehicles impounded.

Two novice drivers were charged with being above zero BAC, and also had their drivers licenses suspended.

A novice driver is not allowed to drink any alcohol at all.

Both these young drivers also lost their vehicles to impoundment.

A 31-year-old Bradford man was charged after coming through the RIDE line with marijuana hidden in a metal canister.

An officer smelled the drug and seized it from the man.

The man was a passenger in the vehicle and now faces a criminal charge of possession of a controlled substance.

He will be attending court in January.

Officers remind all motorists that you have many options to keep everyone safe.

Drinking and driving is not an option.

Call a taxi, use public transit, call a friend, or stay overnight.

Please don't drink and drive!
