Police say van driver fled from pedestrian collision

72-year-old female victim was transported to a local hospital with undetermined injuries

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH -  At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle while crossing Burt Avenue at Church Street in Alliston.

The light coloured mini-van was southbound on Church Street and turning left onto Burt Avenue when it struck the pedestrian.

The driver of the mini-van is described as a male, believed to be in his late 30s to early 40s, possibly with facial hair.

He stopped, went to the victim, asked if she was injured, to which she replied yes, and asked him to call an ambulance.

At this point the driver returned to his vehicle and fled the scene travelling east on Burt Avenue. The vehicle may have damage to the hood.

The 72-year-old female victim was transported to a local hospital with undetermined injuries.
