Police say man flagged down victim in roadside assault

OPP investigating assault

ORILLIA - On Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault on Brodie Drive, Severn Township.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., a female was driving northbound on Brodie Drive when she was flagged down by a male standing near a parked car who appeared to be in need of assistance. The female stopped and exited her vehicle at which time she was assaulted by the unknown male who fled the scene southbound on Brodie Drive.

The Orillia OPP Crime Unit, Orillia detachment Scenes of Crime Officers and the Central Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) were called in to assist with the investigation.

The male suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • Mid to late 20s
  • Medium build
  • Wearing a black jacket, black toque, black work boots, blue jeans and black gloves

The suspect vehicle is described as:

  • Newer Ford, mid-sized, four-door sedan
  • Bright red in colour with silver coloured hub caps
