Nottawasaga OPP are looking for the male driver of vehicle that allegedly struck a 72-year-old woman who was crossing the road at Burt Avenue and Church Street in Alliston this morning.

According to police, a light coloured mini-van was southbound on Church Street, turning left onto Burt Avenue when it struck the pedestrian at about 7:30 a.m.

Police said the driver stopped to check on the victim and asked if she was injured.

When she asked him to call an ambulance, police said the man got back into his vehicle drove away, travelling east on Burt Avenue.

The woman was taken to Stevenson Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

Police are asking for the public's help to identify the driver.

He is described as a man in his late 30s to early 40s, possibly with facial hair.

The vehicle is believed to have damage to the hood.
