5:17 p.m. update:

Barrie Police Const. Sarah Bamford says police received reports that there was a gun inside the high school.

The school was placed in a lockdown.

"Uniformed officers and our Tactical Team arrived.  The school was searched.  A gun wasn't found. There were no threats made to anybody. The investigation is ongoing," said Bamford. "We believe it may have been a pellet gun."

The lockdown lasted nearly an hour and worried parents rushed to the school causing gridlock in the parking lot.

"We were very worried. We were actually shopping at Walmart. My daughter text and said there was a lockdown. My wife just bolted and came here running. It's been worrisome," said Robert White as he waited for his two children to emerge from the school.
