Editor's note: Barrie city council approved this agreement at its meeting on Jan. 14, 2019.

The city is close to renewing its agreement with Springwater Township for its residents to use Barrie's recreation programs and services.
The matter was on the agenda at Monday night's general committee meeting and was given initial approval without discussion. Final approval will be considered at next week's city council meeting.
The non-resident user-fee agreement with Springwater would be a four-year term, from March 1, 2019 until Feb. 28, 2023. It includes a three per cent annual increase for a total of $335,000.
The township, which has partnered with Barrie for recreation services since 2001, has also indicated it wants to renew the deal.
City staff says sufficient capacity exists within Barrie's recreation programs, so allowing Springwater residents to sign up the same time as Barrie residents doesn't hinder the chances of local citizens from finding spots.
