TORONTO - John Lloyd of Oro-Medonte has $243,296.70 to put toward his dreams after winning a LOTTO MAX second prize in the July 16, 2021 draw.

John, a 45-year-old father and soon-to-be grandfather, said he is an occasional lottery player, but was motivated to purchase a ticket by the person in front of him in line.

“I was sitting in my truck when I remembered the ticket in my centre console,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I used the OLG Lottery App and when I saw Big Winner, I was shocked. I was holding up my phone showing my girlfriend and daughter and my hand was shaking.”

John said he kept scanning the ticket several times over because he couldn’t believe it was true.

“I’m still feeling shock! I don’t think the excitement will set in until the cheque clears the bank.”

“I’ve been wanting to buy property up north for a while and have been working toward that. This win gets me there faster and with a bigger budget,” he smiled.

LOTTO MAX players in Ontario have won over $6.5 billion since 2009, including 87 jackpot wins and 714 MAXMILLIONS prizes, right across the province. LOTTO MAX is $5 per play and draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The winning ticket was purchased at Oro Station General Store on Line 7 in Oro-Medonte.
