OPP officer charged with obstructing justice

ORILLIA - On Thursday June 16, 2016 a police officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was arrested following the completion of an investigation conducted by the OPP Professional Standards Bureau.

As a result of the investigation, 50-year-old Provincial Constable Mark Lund, of Penetanguishene, Ontario, a 27-year veteran of the OPP, has been charged with Obstruct Justice contrary to section 139(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada. 

At the time of the incident, Provincial Constable Lund was off duty.  

He has been released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Midland on Thursday July 21, 2016 at 10 a.m.
