Ontario reports 409 new COVID cases again today

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 409 new COVID cases today, the same number reported yesterday. 

The province has also confirmed one more death related to COVID – an individual over the age of 80. 

Half of today's cases (204 cases) are from Toronto Public Health, 66 cases were reported by Peel Public Health, and 40 were reported by Ottawa Public Health.

The cases reported today include 266 people under the age of 40. 

Six more people have been hospitalized with the coronavirus, adding to the 20 reported hospitalized in yesterday's update. 

Public Health Ontario has also reported 29 new school-related cases today, with 10 student cases and 10 staff cases. The remaining nine are not identified. There are now 238 school-related cases spread across 198 schools in Ontario. Two schools are closed. 

Provincial labs have now processed more than 3.7 million tests with 41,865 tests reported processed since last report. Some tests not counted yesterday due to an outage are included in today's provincial summary. 

There is a backlog of 65,227 tests awaiting results. 

To-date, Public Health Ontario has confirmed 48,905 COVID-19 cases in the province, and has reported 42,169 of those as recovered and 2,837 cases ending in death. 

There are 3,899 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, including 87 people who are hospitalized with the coronavirus. There are 25 COVID patients in intensive care and 13 COVID patients on ventilators. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 842 cases of COVID-19, with 785 of those in Simcoe County. There are now 714 cases listed as recovered. There are no hospitalizations reported on the health unit website. Thirty-eight people have died.

The health unit indicates there are 72 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County, and 87 active cases in the region.
