North-end jewelry store robbed in broad daylight

Theft, which involved a weapon, happened on Bayfield Street on Saturday shorty after noon

A theft at a north-end jewelry store involving a weapon has city police searching for a suspect.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Saturday, a man entered the D.C. Taylor Jewellers on Bayfield Street and made off with merchandise.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Jennett Mays told BarrieToday there was a weapon involved, but few others details have been released. 

"The investigation is still ongoing, but at this point I can tell you that just before 12:30 p.m., today, a lone male entered a business located at 411 Bayfield St.," she said. "He displayed a weapon and fled with a quantity of merchandise."
