New student mayors take oath of office

Jack Honka and Ryan Khosrovaneh to fill the role and learn about municipal politics and governance

A pair of new student mayors were sworn into office at Barrie city council last night.

They are Jack Honka from Hyde Park Public School and Eastview Secondary School's Ryan Khosrovaneh.

With family and supporters in attendance, they were sworn in by City of Barrie deputy clerk Jeff Carswell.

Unfortunately, it was a pretty sparse agenda and the meeting only lasted 28 minutes.

Afterwards, they got a chance to chat with Deputy Mayor Barry Ward, who was presiding over Monday's meeting.
