New Path Youth & Family Services (New Path), a local children’s mental health agency and Lead Agency for child and youth mental health in Simcoe County, is proud to now offer the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) Family Transitions™.

This program is for parents who are going through separation or divorce and need some support in resolving conflicts in their relationships which may be impacting their children.

“Separation and divorce can be very challenging for many families, and children can be especially negatively affected,” says Kathy Beaupre, New Path Early Years Counsellor and Senior Brief Worker at New Path. “It’s important for parents to learn to manage their emotions so that their children can have the best possible outcomes without the possible long-term negative effects.”

New Path recently trained five practitioners who have been accredited to deliver this new group program which aims to: increase parents' competence and confidence in raising their children, improve parents' personal coping skills in managing the transition through separation and divorce, reduce parents' level of emotional distress (including depression, anxiety, stress and anger), and improve parents' communication about co-parenting issues.

Do you feel that conflict between you and your co-parent is affecting your ability to respond to your children's challenging behaviour? If you are a parent who can identify with difficulties as a consequence of separation or divorce, this program may be for you.

If you would like more information or to sign up for the next available session, please call the New Path's intake 705-725-7656 or email us at [email protected]
