Name released in fatal Essa crash

ESSA TOWNSHIP – On Sunday March 27th 2016 at 3:50 p.m., Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a collision in the area of 9th line and 5th Sideroad of Essa Township.

Upon arrival at the scene of this two vehicle collision, it was determined that a Toyota Camry had been travelling south on the 9th line of Essa and failed to stop for a stop sign at the 5th Sideroad. The Toyota, after entering the intersection, collided with an eastbound Ford Van carrying 7 passengers.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, later identified as Bronwyn DALZIEL, 24 of Toronto was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger of the van who had been taken to a local hospital was later air lifted to a Toronto Area Hospital and is now listed as life threatening injuries.

The other occupants of the van were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) was called to assist in the investigation. Also assisting were Essa Fire and Simcoe County Paramedics. Road closures were in effect during the course of this investigation.
