Motorcycle crashes in ditch (2 photos)

Police appealing for witnesses

South Simcoe Police are investigating after a 52-year old Toronto man crashed his motorcycle into an Innisfil ditch.

Police received a call at 4:45 a.m. from a passing motorist who spotted the crash scene on 10th Sideroad north of Highway 89.

"We believe speed is a factor," said Const. Rich Williamson.

The motorcycle crashed on one of two curves on the stretch of road, according to Williamson.

"When we look at the scene we've got skid marks heading off of the curve and he's gone off the road, vaulted and landed in the ditch further down."

"We don't know how long he was in the ditch before the witness stopped. It wasn't immediate so we're trying to determine exactly the time when it happened."

The man was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre.

Police say he suffered serious injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Ashley Fairbarn at 705-436-2141 ext. 2034.
