Montes shatters four-year-old OFSAA swimming record

St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School swim team brings home several medals from provincial OFSAA meet

St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School dominated the last two days at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) swimming championships, with several of the Barrie school's student-athletes leaving with medals and even a new provincial record.

Matthew Keenan started Day 1 with a gold in the junior boys 50-metre freestyle with a sizzling time of 25.63.

On Day 2, the junior boys 4x50 freestyle relay team won gold, out-touching the always-dominate Upper Canada College team.

Jesse Montes shattered a four-year-old OFSAA record in the junior boys 100-metre individual medley (IM) with a blistering time of 1:02.56.

The senior boys 4x50 freestyle relay team, comprised of Jesse Montes, Julian Gonzales, Grant Shivers, Matthew Keenan, placed fourth.

Matthew Keenan - gold in the junior boys 50-m freestyle, gold in the junior boys 4x50 freestyle relay, fourth in the senior boys 4x50 freestyle relay.

Jesse Montes - set OFSAA record in the junior boys 100-m IM, gold in the junior boys 4x50 freestyle relay, and fourth in the senior boys 4x50 freestyle relay.

Julian Gonzales - gold in the junior boys 4x50 freestyle relay, fourth in the senior boys 4x50 freestyle relay.

Adam Racco - gold in the junior boys 4x50 freestyle relay.

Grant Shivers - fourth in the senior boys 4x50 freestyle relay.

Emma Miller - 11th in the junior girls 50-metre butterfly, 12th in the junior girls 100 IM.

Sarah Montes - 19th in the 100-m breaststroke.

Mackenzie Faulkner - 19th in the 200-m IM.
