The Barrielcious Festival runs from Jan. 22 to Feb. 7

Put on your stretchy pants and make those reservations because your culinary journey starts tonight.

The 17-day Barrielicious Festival kicks off this evening offering a chance for everyone to sample some of Barrie's finest independent eateries.

This year is the biggest Barrielicious ever with 58 restaurants participating.

"It's the largest amount of restaurants we've ever had," said Barrielicious director Ryan Traversy. "We had 45 last winter."

Ninety percent of the restaurants are in Barrie but this year there is one each in Alliston and Midland, two in Port Severn and two in Orillia.

There is a fixed price on three-course menus ranging from $15 - $25.

"It's a Festival for independent and locally owned restaurants only to showcase what Mom and Pop shops have to offer," Traversy said.

Traversy warns it's best to make reservations.

The fixed price menu does not include applicable taxes, gratuities, alcohol or additional menu items.
