Briar Galloway, Family of Schools consultant for Special Education; and Kathy Chapman, Central consultant for Special Education, were honoured by Simcoe Community Services with an Inclusion Excellence Award.

The award was presented on June 21 during the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB)’s monthly special education department meeting.

“Briar and Kathy show compassion and respect every day for individuals with an intellectual disability," says Jamie Hall, stakeholder relations manager, Simcoe Community Services. “Their commitment to inclusion in education and willingness to do whatever is necessary to support children and their families makes them most-deserving recipients of the 2017 Simcoe Community Services Inclusion Award.”

Chris Samis, superintendent of education for Area 3C and Special Education, adds: “Briar and Kathy are empathetic listeners trusted by families and exemplify many of the SCDSB’s character attributes. Their long-term commitment to enhancing the lives of children with special education needs and their families make them very worthy recipients of this award.”
