INNISFIL - The Town of Innisfil is proud to announce that this year’s Mayor’s Golf Tournament has raised just over $63,000 for the Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre.
“We are delighted by and grateful for the generosity of all the golfers, sponsors, donors and volunteers,” said Innisfil Deputy Mayor Lynn Dollin. “The best part is that all the proceeds will go towards bringing much-needed health services closer to home for residents in our community.”
It was also announced at the tournament that former Innisfil Mayor Stewart Fisher, along with his family, have pledged $70,000 in support of the Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre. Fisher, who served on municipal council in the 1980s and 90s, as Councillor, Deputy Mayor, Mayor and Simcoe County Warden, addressed the crowd at the event along with sons Brian and Mark. The donation, he said, was his way of leaving his legacy here in Innisfil.
This year’s tournament was held at the Nest at Friday Harbour Resort. The funds were generated by 144 golfers, over 50 sponsorships and donations, a silent auction and other fundraising activities held throughout the event.
Proceeds will support the Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre, a 44,000 square foot health and wellness centre under construction at Yonge Street and Innisfil Beach Road. The Town of Innisfil is raising $3.5 million to create the Rizzardo Centre, which is expected to open in Spring 2019.
