Man's body found in car (update)

OPP says death not believed to be criminal in nature

The following is a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police:

ORO-MEDONTE TOWNSHIP – Members of the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Simcoe County Paramedic Services and Oro-Medonte Fire were dispatched at 2:26 p.m. October 26, 2015 to a property on Highway 11 southbound after a male was located deceased.

69-year-old Walter FILIPOWICZ of Oro-Medonte Township was found deceased in the parking lot.  

The cause of death was deemed to be from natural causes.

Original story

The body of an elderly man was found in a car along Highway 11 this afternoon.

The car was parked at an out-of-business gas station and convenience store on the southbound side just north of gasoline alley.

"There is no concern for public safety," said OPP Const. Lynda Cranney.

The forensic identification team did not attend the scene and Cranney says the crime unit has left.

The man's identity is not being released.

Cranney says at this time the death does not appear to be criminal in nature.
