Man injured in dog attack

Barrie Police say a 31-year old man was attacked by a  German Shepherd around 9 a.m. Sunday while walking near Georgian Drive and Penetanguishene Road.

Police say two German Shepherds approached the man and he was bitten by one of the dogs.

The man was treated at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for a dog bite on his right foot.

Police say they were originally called about the incident by the hospital.

Police are still unable to locate the dog or its owner.

The Barrie SPCA has been notified of the incident, and can ensure the public there have been no recent cases of rabies reported in the City of Barrie.

The dog is described as;

  • German Shepherd with long hair, possibly mixed breed
  • Black and Tan in color 

Police are advising people in the area to be mindful while walking.
