A man named in an arrest warrant for robbery in Orillia has turned himself in to police.

Orillia OPP had issued a warrant for a Sault Ste. Marie man in connection with a hold-up at jewellery store.

Officers were called to P D Murphy Jewellery on Mississauga Street in downtown Orillia on Oct. 9 around 2 p.m.

An employee told police that a man who indicated he had a gun in his backpack robbed the store of a quantity of rings and fled.

The gun was not displayed and no one was hurt.

A warrant for robbery was issued for 27-year old Yves Gagnier of Sault Ste. Marie.

Police alleged Gagnier was the driver of a getaway vehicle.

Police released a photo of Gagnier and a description of the getaway car.

Orillia OPP issued an update this morning saying Gagnier is now in custody after turning himself in at the OPP detachment in Sault Ste. Marie.

On Oct. 13, 50-year old Alan Lee of Barrie was arrested and charged with robbery in connection with the same hold-up.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or submit tips online at www.crimestopperssdm.com
