Man faces multiple drunk driving related charges after Highway 11 crash

ORO-MEDONTE - On Sunday, June 12, 2016 at approximately 7:49 p.m., Barrie O.P.P. officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 southbound north of Line 4 in Oro-Medonte Township.

Information was received that a burgundy pickup truck and black Hyundai collided.

After both vehicles left the roadway, the pick-up truck struck a telephone post, shearing it off.

Both vehicles rolled into the ditch and the trailer, which was being towed by the burgundy pick-up truck, landed on the car.    

The pickup truck driver Garrett Buckley, 20-years-old, of Oro-Medonte, Ontario, was charged with Driving with more than 80 mg. of Alcohol in Blood Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Section 249 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for the charge of Drive Motor Vehicle Not Equipped with an Approved Ignition Interlock, Section 41.2(13).  

The accused will be making his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on August 15, 2016.
