Man disappears in obscure residential area

Investigators are seeking a male suspect following a theft of a vehicle on Monday, April 18, 2016.  

It is believed that the vehicle was stolen overnight from an address on Kraus Road, in the City of Barrie.

On Saturday, April 22, at 2:45 a.m. police attended Petro Canada on Blake Street, in the City of Barrie after receiving a report of a male suspect who had stolen gas.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle driven by the suspect had been reported stolen the week prior.

Just after 3 a.m., while checking the nearby area police located the vehicle travelling on Cook Street. The suspect pulled onto Sylvia Street and quickly jumped out of the car and fled the area on foot.

Police pursued the male, although were unable to capture him as he disappeared into an obscure residential area.

The vehicle was seized and turned over to the forensic identification unit for further examination.
