Man accused of trying to abduct woman from Alliston park

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH – On Friday, June 3, 2016 at approximately 6 a.m., members of Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an attempted abduction in Riverdale Park, Alliston.

An adult female was walking a trail along the park when an unknown male attempted to abduct her. An altercation occurred and the female made good her escape, reporting the incident to police.

Members of Nottawasaga OPP patrolled the area and located the now accused, Lawrence Stephenson, 23 years of age of no fixed address.

The accused will appear in Bail Court in Barrie and has been charged with:

  • Forcible Confinement
  • Assault
