The village of Creemore is excited to host two magical events in downtown Creemore.

After a long hiatus, the Creemore Business Improvement Association (BIA) has planned two evening street parties to bring old friends and new visitors back to downtown and enjoy summer solstice on June 24 followed by autumn equinox on Sept. 17.

Summer solstice takes place on Mill Street and Caroline Street in Creemore on Friday, June 24 from 5-10 p.m.

A magical evening is on offer and visitors can expect to see bonfires, Indigenous storytellers, Juno-nominated musicians, a community picnic and sidewalk sale. Plan on bringing the entire family as lots of children’s activities are planned including making floral crowns, fairy land and sustainable crafts.

Join in and plan to dine at the giant community picnic on Mill Street. Restaurants will be bringing their delicious fare to the street. The BIA will host a cash bar and the entire street will be licensed. The BIA would like to remind everyone to bring their own dishes and cutlery to dine with as we make every effort to reduce waste.

“The BIA is delighted to see an end to pandemic measures and welcome everyone back to our community. Our community has been so supportive in shopping and dining local over the past two years that this is a great way to thank them,” said Laurie Severn, BIA president and co-chair of the event. “For new visitors to Creemore, we invite you to check out our one-of-a-kind shops and enjoy a meal or a drink on a patio. We can’t wait to see you downtown.”

Both Caroline Street West and Mill Street between Francis and Elizabeth streets will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday for set-up.
